Most people say that their first memory of having an interest in makeup is when they watched their mother put on her makeup or when they played with their mother’s makeup. My story is just the opposite.
My earliest memories of the art of makeup actually came from my father. He was an incredible makeup artist. You see, my father was a funeral director. He was very passionate and dedicated to the art of making the final viewing of a loved one, a very positive and memorable experience. He knew that the last image would be a lasting one ingrained in their minds forever. When I was a small girl, I watched and listened as he performed his craft. I spent many hours by his side learning and observing.
Later on, I spent my college summers working with him as an intern. While in college, I gained more valuable experience as a college theater makeup artist. I graduated with a BA Degree in liberal Arts with a major in Elementary Education. I moved to Arizona in 1986 and taught in both the public and private schools for 22 years. During that time I organized school plays, assemblies, special events and performances. After retiring, I became involved in AZ Music Man Entertainment Company and have attended and assisted at many special events, including weddings, bridal shows, concert series and holiday events.
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, friends and my two precious grandchildren. I also enjoy cooking, baking, gardening and watching movies.
Although my father is no longer with us, he will always be my inspiration. I know that he would be proud that I am pursuing my dream to be “passionate about enhancing your inner beauty”, just as he did so many years ago.
